Maale Adumim
Maale Adumim is a city in the Judean Desert. It is located eight kilometers east of Jerusalem.
The city was founded in 1975.
The name of the city is translated as "Red Rise" - the so-called ancient trade route, passing through the corridor between the red rocks from Jericho to Jerusalem. This path is mentioned in the Tanach, in the book of Joshua.
On the territory of the city there are ruins of the fortress of the Crusaders. Also here were found the ruins of a Byzantine monastery.
Most of the city's residents work in Jerusalem, as well as in the nearby industrial area of ??Mishor Adumim.
